Matthew McConaughey: Dallas Buyers Club
In order to transform into HIV-positive Texas electrician Ron Woodruff for Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew McConaughey had to lose some of his famous chiseled physique. Altogether, the actor lost about 50 pounds — and from the looks of it, most of that weight was muscle. Matthew says his initial goal was 145 pounds, but he hadn't quite hit that hollow, skinny look he was shooting for.
“I was going around and people were going, ‘Hey, are you feeling all right?’” he told People of his insane transformation. “But then I hit 135 lbs. I ran in to somebody and they didn't just ask if I was all right, they said, ‘My God, we need to get you some help.’ And I thought, ‘There we go. That's the perfect spot.’”
His wife Camila Alves voiced her support to People: “He’s losing weight for his new movie and he still has to lose more. But I’m very supportive. I’m usually the one right there saying, ‘You can’t eat this, you can’t eat that,’ but he’s very disciplined. He’s really great at it.”
