Roy Horn and the Tiger
Don’t play with tigers.
Roy Horn, of the long-running Vegas show Siegfried & Roy, sustained a nasty neck bite and suffered a subsequent stroke when a 7-year-old, 600-pound male tiger named Montecore dragged the then 59-year-old entertainer offstage during an October 2003 show at The Mirage. Despite the severity of his injuries, Roy believes that the animal, which he’d raised since it was a cub, never meant him any harm.
"Montecore saved my life," he explained to People one year later, surmising that the tiger intuited he was about to have a stroke. "He instinctively saw that I needed help, and he helped me."
