Bicuriouser and Curiouser: Dating Both Sexes
Bisexuals haven’t always been welcome on television, but now that the celluloid closet door has swung open, many shows have experimented with a character who flirts with both sexes — even if they quickly revert to dating members of the opposite gender.
Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) kisses a girl (Olivia Wilde, who went on to play bisexual doctor Thirteen on House) on The O.C. — and she likes it. On 90210, Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) has tackled every cliché in the book — from teen pregnancy to drug addiction to losing an acquaintance in a car crash — so she was a natural choice for the suddenly bicurious trope. Glee’s Brittany (Heather Morris) loves her girlfriend, Santana (Naya Rivera), but she likes to duet with guys, too.
