Why Does Taylor Swift Always Sing About Boys?
Taylor Swift sings about boys because she falls fast and she falls hard. The 22-year-old country star, who has been linked to the likes of Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, and her current beau Conor Kennedy, tells the November issue of Marie Claire UK (via People) that she clicks “easily” with “the right person.”
But if things don’t work out, there’s nothing preventing her from penning a song about the breakup — however messy. "Well, it's not like it's in fine print," she adds. "But music is absolutely everything that I am and everything that I stand for. It's not my fault if someone gets into a relationship with me and then cheats and I write a song about it."
A few examples of Taylor’s tendency to dip into her love life for material: “Dear John,” which has to be about Mayer (despite Taylor calling the singer “presumptuous” for assuming he’s the subject); “We’re Never Ever Getting Back Together,” which may be about her whirlwind romance with Jake; and “Begin Again,” which sure seems to be about Conor.
