Fox Renews Majority Of Tuesday Night Lineup: New Girl, The Mindy Project, & More!

Fans of (most of) Fox’s Tuesday night comedies can currently rest easily. The network has given early renewals for new seasons of sitcoms New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Mindy Project, along with Kevin Bacon drama The Following. Yipee!

This decision is a bit unusual, as a network typically waits until May to decide which shows to renew, based on what its new pilots look like. However, this may be a sign that Fox is eschewing the more traditional pilot season in favor of introducing new shows year-round, as it had announced recently.

New Girl’s renewal was not seen as a big surprise, given that it’s the network’s highest-rated comedy and was given the plum post-Super Bowl timeslot this year. But Mindy Project and Brooklyn Nine-Nine were both seen as bubble shows, although Brooklyn probably wouldn’t have gotten canceled after winning Golden Globes for Best Comedy and Best Actor for lead Andy Samburg this year.

Meanwhile, The Following still brings in steady numbers but is down quite a bit in the ratings from its impressive debut season last year. Sadly, the news was not as good for Friday comedy Raising Hope, which Fox announced this week that it is canceling after four seasons. The fate of two Fox comedies  Dads, which airs on Tuesdays, and Enlisted, on Fridays  is still up in the air.

Are you happy that these four shows have been renewed?
