Still no official spin-off premiere date has been set, but fans of the original Boy Meets World can start getting even more excited: Cory Matthews (Ben Savage)'s parents, Alan and Amy Matthews (William Russ and Betsy Randle) will be kickin' it with their grandkids on the new show! While fans should be pleased with that news, an even more eagerly-awaited guest star has been confirmed. In case you missed our previous coverage of how Girl Meets World is officially perfect, that means that Rider Strong has officially been confirmed to reprise his role as Cory's best friend Shawn Hunter on the spin-off series. Be still, our adolescent hearts!
GMW, which premieres on the Disney Channel later this year, follows beloved BMW characters Cory and Topanga Matthews (née Lawrence, played by Danielle Fishel) as they raise children of their own, including the titular girl, Riley Matthews. Like Cory had with Shawn, Riley has an offbeat best friend, Maya Hart.
A photo posted to Instagram by Danielle shows Cory, Topanga, Riley, and Maya sitting around a dinner table... with some familiar faces, which appeared to be early confirmation about Alan, Amy, and Shawn becoming GMW characters. E! was all over it, and quickly confirmed the news: They're all guest-starring for a holiday episode.
These three returning to the show brings the most exciting news about the spin-off since we learned that William Daniels, who played Mr. Feeny, will be returning! Lee Norris, who played Stuart Minkus, will also make an appearance.
