Last week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries — Season 5, Episode 16 (“While You Were Sleeping”) — gave us a Delena breakup and hookup… in that order. It seems like Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena(Nina Dobrev) are entering into a sex-fueled relationship, and we’re OK with that. But what does Ian say about the whole Damon-killed-Aaron situation?
While on the red carpet at PaleyFest’s TVD panel Saturday night (March 22), Ian was asked if Elena was ever going to let that whole thing go so that the two could move on — and you might be surprised at what Ian had to say!
“I honestly don’t think there’s a ‘move on’ component that’s going to be written in this scenario,” Ian said. “Relationships are very, very complicated. So I don’t think that this thing is over at all.”
Whatcha talkin’ about, Ian? You mean Elena is going to just forgive and forget that you killed her first college BFF? We totally thought they were better friends than that, or, you know, that Elena might be a little more ticked off.
“I think it was just one of those things… misguided love. This guy went off on a bunch of people, particularly Aaron — who, Shaun Sipos is my brother, the last guy I wanted to kill was the wonderful, handsome Shaun Sipos,” Ian said. “But Damon did it out of what he thought was love, anger. We do the dumbest s—t ever when we’re angry. At the end of the day I think it was misguided and I think [Elena] knows that and understands that.”
Sounds like things will be smoothed over, but we’ll have to wait and see!
Do you hope Elena forgives Damon for killing Aaron? Hit the comments and let us know!
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
