It's kinda crazy to think that pop idol Katy Perry started her sheltered life as a small-time gospel singer in Santa Barbara, right? Of her upbringing, Katy told MTV, "I was raised in a very pseudo-strict religious household where the only thing on the menu was [gospel standards like] 'Oh Happy Day,' 'His Eye Is on the Sparrow' and 'Amazing Grace'." Homegirl has come a looooong way.
See her journey to super-stardom in her new concert documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me 3-D, which will be released on July 4, 2012. If it gives you any context as to how good her biopic will be, she's got some of the same people working on her film that did Justin Bieber's feel-good Never Say Never film. Think you'll go see this one?
