UPDATE (12/1/17 at 9:45 a.m. ET):
After accusing Nick Carter of raping her 15 year ago, Melissa Schuman says she forgives the Backstreet Boys star.
While on an episode of The Dr. Oz Show, the 33-year-old shared her apology.
“I forgive you. I don’t want anything from you. I wish you only the best. I don’t want your money. I didn’t do this to hurt you or your family,” the singer shared.
“I did this for me because I needed this healing, and I also came forward because I want to inspire other victims, other people who have been assaulted, to come forward and know that they have a voice.”
She also revealed why she didn’t report the supposed rape after it occurred.
“I had actually confided in my manager at that time about pressing charges, and I was told that [Carter] had the most powerful litigator in the country and that I didn’t have the money to pay for an attorney to essentially defend me if he were to come after me.”

Nick Carter released a statement denying Melissa Schuman's accusations and claiming all sexual contact between them was consensual.
He also said he was "shocked and saddened" by her allegations.
The 37-year-old singer said, "Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual.
"We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally.
"This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later.
"It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm."

Nick Carter has been accused of sexually abusing and raping former singer Melissa Schuman.
The singer, now 33, has claimed the Backstreet Boys star made sexual advances on her in 2002, after inviting her to his house for a "casual hangout," and allegedly forcing himself on her.
Melissa — who was a member of girl group Dream at the time — alleges that Nick began kissing her and unbuttoned her pants, and although she claims she said she "didn't want to go any further," she says Nick "didn't listen" and "didn't care."
The star then claims 37-year-old Nick performed oral sex on her without her consent, and then told her, "I did it for you and it's only right you do it for me."
Writing in a lengthy and shocking blog post, Melissa said, "He was stronger and much bigger than me, and there was no way I would be able to open that door or have anyone help me.
"I felt scared and trapped. He was visually and clearly growing very angry and impatient with me. I couldn't leave.
"So when he placed my hand on his penis my thought was the only way to get out was to get him to finish what he had started.
I just want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support. Thank you for bearing witness to my story. Thank you for providing me a safe place to be open and vulnerable. I love you all. Thank you for aiding me in the healing that I so desperately needed. I am free now.MelissaSchuman (@MelissaSchuman) November 21, 2017
"That's where I saw myself, my reflection, watching myself do something that I was sickened by.
"Watching myself be assaulted, forced to engage in an act against my will."
Melissa also alleges Nick carried her to his bedroom and forced her to have sex with him, and claims she told him she was a virgin who was saving herself for marriage.
She wrote in her blog post, "I told him that I was a virgin and I didn't want to have sex.
"I told him that I was saving myself for my future husband. I said it over and over again.
"It was done. The one thing I had held as a virtue had been ruined.
"I went limp, turned my head to my left and decided I would just go to sleep now.
"I wanted to believe it was some sort of nightmare I was dreaming up."
The former Dream singer — who was 18 at the time of the alleged incident while Nick was 22 — claims she was left "broken" by the ordeal.
While she told her close family a long time ago, she feels now is the right time to speak publicly about what happened.
She wrote, "I was broken. I was tired. I was traumatized. I told my therapist. I told my family. I told my friends.
"I have a plethora of people who can attest that I eventually became vocal about my experience, I've just never had the platform to come out publicly."
