You may recognize Nick from his turn as Jane’s bestie Billy on ABC Family’s sadly-canceled Jane By Design, but we will soon associate him with new guy Riley from Season 4, Episode 22 (“Cover For Me”) of Pretty Little Liars. Last we saw Aria, she was on the road, looking for some peace of mind, and she seems to find it at Syracuse University’s prospective student week. There, she meets Riley, a fellow prospie with whom she makes an immediate connection. Nick says: “They hit it off for different reasons; they’re both coming off relationships, so they have multiple things they connect with.”
But, does Riley understand the epic-ness of both the love and betrayal Aria is coming off of? Probably not given that, sometimes, we have a hard time wrapping our brain around recent Ezria development. Nick seems similarly lost. He had this to say about his awareness of Pretty Little Liars coming into the role: “I didn’t watch it that much. I knew it was a drama and that people die and there’s some sort of murder they’re covering up. But when I actually got the job, I watched a few episodes from this season, and I was just grasping at straws trying to figure out what was going on.” We can only imagine. We’re sometimes confused, and we’ve seen every episode! Luckily, Nick had an ally in Lucy to help him through all of the necessary PLL backstory. “It was great working with Lucy Hale,” Nick said. “She’s so sweet, and we had some chemistry that made it easy to work together. Aria and Riley, who knows?”
What do you guys think? Do we have room in our PLL-loving hearts for Riley? We have to admit: if anyone could usurp our love for Ezria, it might just be Nick Roux...
