Nick Viall Reacts to Not Getting the ‘Bachelor’ 2016 Gig
Sorry, Nick Viall fans, but the two-time Bachelorette runner-up won’t be taking his third shot at reality TV love as the next Bachelor. On August 24, Ben Higgins was announced as the Season 20 lead — but how does Nick feel about it?
You could probably guess Nick is A-OK with the choice, considering he played along with Chris Harrison and the producers for an epic fake-out on Bachelor in Paradise’s after show, After Paradise. But the 34-year-old hunk (side note: Have you seen his modeling pics?!) elaborated further in a post-show interview.
"I think ABC made a great choice," Nick told Us Weekly of Ben. "I think he’s one of the few people that actually lives up to the hype. He's a very sweet guy and now that he's the leading guy I hope we get to see the other great sides of Ben. Ben has an edge and I hope that he shows it!"
And he wasn’t done praising his Season 11 castmate yet! Nick also took to Instagram to share a pic of himself and the Colorado native backstage after the announcement.
For his part, Ben also shouted out Nick for his support leading up to the big day, proving this has been in the works for some time now.
Warning: prepare will be a long message. This is surreal but extremely exciting. To all the women who will be joining me on this experience...thank you for taking the time out of your lives to give this whole thing a shot. @nickviall thanks for being supportive and insightful through the last few days. @coachkbarnett and @sarah_barnett12 love you both and I appreciate you taking the whole day to take my mind off things. @shawn_booth18 and @kaitlynbristowe the shout outs helped I think...much love sent to you both. There are tons others to thank but those will come later. Finally, thanks to the lord above for being faithful.
This isn’t the first time the 26-year-old has supported his pal Nick publicly. He told Us back in July he understood the controversial contestant’s decision to come back for Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season and didn’t question his intentions.
He reasoned, "I think when you do this experience, you realize it’s real. It’s not always fun … I just think that he would have to be legally insane if he thought this was just a cool opportunity to come back and maybe be The Bachelor. That would be a huge risk. So yeah, I think he was here for the 'right reasons.'"
Congrats to both Ben H. and Nick in their next romantic chapters, both on and off-screen. We can’t wait to see what happens next!
