Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey Fight Over Angie Miller on American Idol 2013
Besides a little eye-rolling on the part of Nicki Minaj and the occasional passive-aggressive jab on the part of Mariah Carey, the female divas judges on American Idol 2013 have played nice to a certain extent. Although their so-called feuding was much publicized before Season 12 started, the drama fizzled quickly when it turned out to be much ado about virtualy nothing. Still, it's obvious Nicki and Mariah don't always see eye to eye, and on American Idol last night, that was made very clear once again.
Fast forward to last night’s show when Nicki tried to get Mariah to admit she agreed with her critique at one point, and then told her to clean out her ears, passing her a cotton swab, at another point. Randy Jackson and Keith Urban played the role of spectators at a tennis match, while Ryan Seacrest played his usual role of peacekeeper/babysitter/timekeeper. As he said, “Someone is going to go to the corner, we have to get to the end of the show ladies. Are we still on for dinner?” Ryan, nobody puts Mimi in the corner!
The catfight occurred after Nicki gave Angie Miller some criticism, saying, “Something you should work and concentrate on is your high notes as when you hit them you seem to get into it and your face and your body transforms so just the beginning to there.”
Mariah basically implied she should ignore Nicki’s advice, saying, “Darling, let me express this to her as a singer. Just sing from your heart every time and your notes will continue to shine regardless of the dirt that gets splattered around you.”
Nicki then pulled out the gigantic cotton swab (which made us want to play “What’s in Nick’s purse anyway?”), saying to Mariah, “Clean your ears out, clean your ears out.”
Picking up her passive-aggressive role, Mariah continued, “Back to the Billboard Hot 100 number ones, which you just performed, it is difficult to get and not everyone has one, you did a great job.” Say it with us: Oooooh!
There are likely three reasons why these ladies are at each other’s throats again:
1. They see the writing on the wall (meaning they’re out) and don’t care anymore.
2. They’re trying to stir up drama to hike up the declining American Idol ratings.
3. They really hate each other.
In all honestly, we think it’s #3! Regardless, though, it shows you just how much it detracts from the actual critique, as we can only imagine Angie walked away from that whole thing just scratching her head.
