It’s bad news for Nicki Minaj’s brother.
Jelani Miraj has been found guilty of raping an 11-year-old girl inside his Baldwin, New York home.
Jurors found him guilty on Thursday, November 9.
According to Newsday, the 38-year-old was convicted in Nassau County Court on a felony charge of predatory sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Sources say the rapper’s brother displayed no emotion when the verdict was announced.
He is currently being held without bail at the Nassau County Correctional Center in East Meadow, New York.
Though he plans to appeal the verdict, he does face 25 years in prison.
The little girl, who is now 14 years old, testified against her former stepfather and claimed he assaulted her between April and November 2015.
She also revealed the assaults occurred while her mother was at work.
The girl's brother, who is now 10, also testified and claimed he saw Jelani’s “private parts” touching his sister.
He also said Jelani hit him multiple times and said he would never see his mother again if the little boy told his mom what he had witnessed.
However, the defense claims the allegations were made up so the family could extort $25 million from the “Super Bass” hitmaker.
Jelani also tried to get the case dismissed earlier this month, claiming the prosecution "didn’t prove that the alleged victim was underage when the alleged abuse occurred."
However, the prosecution did verify the victim’s age with a birth certificate.
Meanwhile, DNA evidence supports the now-teenager’s claims. A stain on her pajama pants contained semen that was a 1 in 291 billion match to Jelani’s.
Nicki has yet to comment on the case.
Wow, this is all so incredibly heartbreaking.
