Judge Denies Nicki Minaj’s Brother’s Request to Dismiss Rape Charges (UPDATE)
UPDATE (11/2/17 at 12:10 p.m. ET):
Months have come and gone, but not much has been resolved in Nicki Minaj's brother's rape case.
A judge denied Jelani Minaj's request in July to throw out the case and dismiss all charges, and a similar thing has just happened again.
According to Bossip, Jelani's defense team tried to get the case thrown out since the prosecutors "didn’t prove that the alleged victim was underage when the alleged abuse occurred."
The victim is alleged to be an 11-year-old girl.
His lawyers also claim there's no proof the girl got raped more than once, both allegations that would need to be proved in order for Jelani to be convicted on his charges of predatory sexual assault of a minor.
However, the judge dismissed the lawyers' request, saying the victim "testified to how old she was, as well as the repeated abuse she said she endured at the hands of Maraj."
Better luck next time, dude!

UPDATE (7/6/17 at 4:00 p.m. ET):
Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, was hoping to kill his current child rape charges when his attorney filed a motion to have the case dismissed.
According to court documents recovered by Bossip, however, a judge has denied the motion, meaning Jelani will go on to face his accuser in court.
Jury selection is expected to begin late July.

UPDATE (5/10/17 at 4:44 p.m. ET):
Nicki Minaj is truly her brother's keeper, standing by big bro Jelani's side as he's currently accused of raping and sodomizing a 12-year-old girl from April through November 30, 2015.
The trial was set to begin May 8, but has been pushed back to the end of summer by request of the prosecution, according to Bossip.

Original Story (3/10/17 at 6:04 p.m. ET)
He’s currently accused of raping and sodomizing a 12-year-old girl from April through November 30, 2015, and is now dismissing DNA evidence as “meaningless.”
The pre-teen, who accused Jelani of raping her, revealed during court procedures that he threatened to sodomize her when she wouldn’t comply with his demands, according to Bossip.
“The 12-year-old told prosecutors that when she didn’t go along with what Jelani Maraj wanted, he would resort to anal rape threats and physical violence,” according to prosecuting District Attorney, Emma Slane.
Slane also said she’d introduce evidence alleging that when the victim’s younger sibling walked in on Maraj abusing the girl, he warned her not to tell anyone before slapping her in the face.
“After telling the child not to talk about what happened, he struck (the sibling) in the face,” Slane said. “These children were in fear of him.”
Jelani’s lawyer, David Schwartz, maintains that semen found on his accuser’s pants could have come from anywhere since they both lived in the same house.
He also claims to have proof that someone else placed the pajama pants in the girl’s room from another location.
“When you live in the same house, your DNA is everywhere. The fact that Jelani’s DNA was found on a pair of pants is really meaningless.”
His attorney also says that the semen found was microscopic, believing that if his accuser really was raped multiple times, “there would be semen all over the place.”
Before he was officially indicted, prosecutors offered Jelani seven years in exchange for copping a plea to “course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree,” which he rejected.
If convicted, Nicki’s big bro could spend life behind bars.
Maraj is due back in court next week, with the full trial set to begin late March.
While Nicki has not spoken on the matter, she still shares photos of herself with her big brother and paid for his $30,000 wedding in August of 2015.
