Pound the alarm! Nicki Minaj's career is soaring, as her position on Forbes's list of The World's Highest-Paid Hip-Hop Artists proves.
The financial magazine tallies Nicki's earnings over the last 12 months at a whopping $29 million, putting her in the fourth-place spot on the ranking, the highest of any female star.
She may be trailing Diddy, Jay Z, and Dr. Dre on the list, but she earned more than Snoop Lion, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar combined.
As Forbes describes: "Minaj is nearing the top thanks to income from touring, steady music sales, a lucrative American Idol gig and endorsements with Pepsi and others."
Sadly, she's also the only female star in the top 20. Forbes expresses hope that rising stars like Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea could break into the pantheon.
"It seems there’s only one [female rapper] that gets anointed at a time," music attorney Lori Landew tells the magazine. "I think it’s just more difficult for women in rap to break through the mainstream and to cross over into the male market."
But the Trinidadian star is undaunted by her de facto role holding it down for the ladies. "I've never been afraid to walk into the boy's club," she told the publication in July. "Ever. Ever, ever, ever."
