Most stars accepting awards go out of their way to praise their fellow nominees.
Nicki Minaj, on the other hand, went out of her way to diss Iggy Azalea at the BET Awards on June 29. (She didn't call her out by name, granted. But she certainly wasn't being subtle.)
As she accepted the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the star-studded ceremony, having won over Iggy, Nicki seemed to directly address the ghostwriting rumors circling the "Fancy" rapper.
Quoth Nicki: "What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it."
She then pantomimed drinking some "tea" — get it? — did a little hip-swaying dance, and said, "Um, and no, no, no, no, no, no shade, um, no, no, no shade, no, no, no shade."
(Yes, that's verbatim.)
And then the 31-year-old "Starships" rapper continued expressing her humility and modesty: "And I'm still one of the only MCs that's out here spitting metaphors and making you think. And I really don't even care if I get my credit or if I don't."
You stay classy, Your Minajesty!
