Nicole Richie Talks Motherhood: “There’s Always Room For Improvement” (VIDEO)
They don’t call her VH1 show Candidly Nicole for nothing! Nicole Richie recently opened up about her two kiddies — daughter Harlow, 6, and son, Sparrow, 4 —during a segment from Oprah: Where Are They Now because if you’re going to get personal, Oprah’s your gal.
“Well, there’s always room for improvement,” Nicole says of her parenting skills. “I do know that I do the best that I can, and I do know that I am constantly — I would say probably every day — talking to other moms and figuring out what’s the best way to have a strong relationship with our kids.”
So how exactly does Nicole go about parenting? Well, she and husband, Good Charlotte lead singer Joel Madden, are all about being honest with their kids. “I have to always come from a place of love and compassion with them,” the 32-year-old explains.
“My kids operate best when I let them have a voice, and I really explain things to them because really, kids want to be told the truth. They just want you to be truthful. They can feel it, and they know you more than you know yourself.” And that friends, is Nicole Richie getting real.
You can catch Oprah: Where Are They Now? on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN. See the interview for yourself in the video above!
