While not immediately obvious at first glance, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Kim Kardashian have a lot in common. Both women are reality TV stars, new moms, and have to deal with having their bodies speculated about by the media on a daily basis.

Maybe it’s because of these similarities that Snooki decided to defend Kim K in her new book, Baby Bumps. In the book, Snooks devotes an entire chapter to her own struggles with weight during her pregnancy. The former Jersey Shore star, who suffered from an eating disorder during her teenage years, writes about she came to grips with her baby weight despite constant criticism by the media.

“So much is made in the media about celebrity pregnancy weight gain,” Snooki writes in the book. “Some women have been mocked cruelly for it. Tabloid monitoring of how fast women lose the baby weight is practically a blood sport. If you weren’t on the cover of In Touch in a bikini within two months of giving birth to talk about your salsa workout, you were a fat, lazy loser.”

The pint-sized star goes on to defend fellow stars for the way their pregnancy weight gain was criticized in the media.

“Just look at how Jessica Simpson and Kim Kardashian were tracked and criticized in the media,” she wrote. “Awful! Worry about weight gain made the nine months even harder. The one bright spot of pregnancy was eating whatever you wanted.”
