After the airing, Mimi took to social media to speak her mind; now Nikko is giving his side of the story in a new interview with Vibe. In the interview, Nikko claims to have been in a rocky marriage and didn’t feel Mimi needed to know about it at the time they were dating.
“I made a decision not to tell her, because there was so much going on with this Stevie s—t,” Nikko revealed, adding, “I was taking this to my grave. This was some secretive s—t I was doing. I didn’t tell Mimi. I didn’t feel ... she needed to know. Going into this third season, I think I might have stretched it out a little too long. I could have sat down and told her, but I didn’t it. I didn’t do it.”
Nikko recounted his relationship with his wife, saying that in the beginning it was pretty strong, but fell apart in a bad, messy breakup after they were married. he says the two “remained cool with each other,” afterwards and that “She was seeing someone else,” leaving him a free man when he picked up with Mimi.
Though he left Mimi in the dark about his past, in another shocking (but maybe not so much) twist, Nikko revealed that his wife actually knew that he was joining the show as Mimi’s love interest.
“When I decided to do the show, [my wife] came to me and said 'I know you about to do the show, do your thing.'” continuing that the pressure was off since, “She was actually with somebody in New York, that she’s still with right now.”
Sigh. If you ask us, this love triangle is getting more bizarre by the minute and we can only imagine what’s coming next on the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Season 3 finale on Monday, August 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
