Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s New Role

Continuing the recent trend of Game of Thrones stars invading movie theaters, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who portrays Kingslayer Jaime Lannister on the hit HBO fantasy drama, has scored another lead role, this time in Susanne Bier’s A Second Chance.

The new film follows Nikolaj’s other recent major silver screen roles in the films Mama, Oblivion, and the upcoming The Other Woman and Gods of Egypt. Impressive!

Few plot details are known so far for A Second Chance, which Indiewire describes as a “tale that will explore how far human beings are willing to go when tragedy blurs the line between the just and unjust.” That cryptic summary doesn’t give us much to go on, but it does sound as if Nikolaj could be heading into serious anti-hero territory, and if that’s the case, he’s got plenty of experience of that sort thanks to his role as Jaime.

The film doesn’t yet have a date to begin filming, possibly due in part to Nikolaj’s GoT schedule, but the filming will be taking place in Nikolaj’s home country of Denmark, and is set to be his first Danish lead role in over ten years.
