As the saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility, and given his over 1 million Twitter followers and a rabid fanbase, one could argue that Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) is very powerful in this day and age.
So what’s the 45-year-old actor doing with all of this power, you wonder?
He’s giving back, of course! Norman would be the first to tell you that his fans are downright awesome, so he’s hoping to mobilize them into giving back and helping out a very deserving charity.
On June 19, Norman took to his Twitter page to announce that an auction had begun for one of his 10-inch deluxe edition Daryl Dixon action figures. But if you think this is your standard eBay auction, then think again. Said action figure is being auctioned off on Sharity.com, a site that hosts auctions for various items and then donates the proceeds to a previously agreed upon charity.
Norman’s charity of choice is Oxfam America, which Sharity describes as follows: “Oxfam America is a global organization working to right the wrongs of poverty, hunger, and injustice. As one of 17 members of the international Oxfam confederation, we work with people in more than 90 countries to create lasting solutions. Oxfam saves lives, develops long-term solutions to poverty, and campaigns for social change.”
The action figure in question features a removable hunting knife, poncho, and crossbow, and as an added bonus, it’s signed by Norman himself! If you want this guy for your own collection then we suggest you act fast. The minimum bid that will be accepted is $455, and the price is already up to a very respectable $430. Sure, it’s a bit steep, but you’d be getting some signed Norman memorabilia and the money goes to charity, so really it’s a win-win. The auction ends in five days and counting, so we suggest you start digging through those couch cushions for some extra cash!
