The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus Recalls School Pranks — He Convinced One Teacher He Hated Her!

Norman Reedus’ (Daryl Dixon) on-set antics on The Walking Dead are well-known, (just ask Andrew Lincoln!) and it turns out that the 44-year-old actor has a long history of playing pranks. During an interview with, Norman recounted how he used to play pranks on his teachers. In fact, one prank went over so well that Norman was able to convince a teacher that he hated her!

Norman, a fan of The Omen, recalls the beginning of the prank.“I used to sit in my classroom and eyeball my teacher and… give her dirty looks and she would get very flustered and look around the room and … avoid me…”

While the teacher’s reaction may have deterred some, Norman got a kick out of it.

“I remember thinking, wow, I can mess with her. I felt like I was Damien from The Omen and it was just empowering.”

Sure, Norman may have enjoyed these mind games, but he wasn’t exactly prepared for what this teacher told him once the school year was over. Norman recalls, “She came up to me and she said, ‘why do you hate me?’ … I said, ‘I don’t hate you, I love you. What are you talking about?’ There was no way I wanted her to think her to think I hated her, but I remember thinking this lady is older than me and I can mess with her and I remember getting a kick out that.”

See, we told you Norman’s mischievous streak runs deep. but it’s all in good fun.

And while we’re under the impression that next to nothing fazes this badass actor, Norman did admit to feeling uncomfortable because of something TWD related, but it has nothing to do with walkers, blood, or guts! We’ll let him explain.

“The weirdest part is, I start to see people dressed like me,” he notes. “People who have the same baseball hat as me, or hair like me now, or wear these sunglasses or wear my boots, have my backpack and they are cosplaying Norman. That almost seems like you’re crossing a line, you know what I mean?”

Yeah, dressing up as Daryl is one thing, but channeling your inner Norman Reedus takes it to a whole new level.

Are you surprised to learn that even as a kid Norman was an expert prankster? Sound off below!

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
