The horror video game series Silent Hill is back — and in Alien/Aliens fashion it looks like this will be called Silent Hills — and Norman will star as a key character. You can see him in the new teaser released yesterday (August 12) at the Gamescom conference, as his character stands on a city street at night.
According to Variety, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) is developing the game with Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima. The new project was a surprise and announced in a creative way — an hour and 16 minutes into a demo for a game just referred to as P.T., a man is seen walking down a dark street. Then you see it’s Norman Reedus and the Kojima/Del Toro credits pop up and Silent Hill is shown (with its “s”). Boom.
The Silent Hill franchise earned itself a huge fan base and led to two films, Silent Hill in 2006 and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D in 2012. Norman is not the only star to be reproduced in such detailed fashion for Sony and Microsoft games; as the L.A. Times notes, Kevin Spacey is playing a villain in this fall’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Watch the P.T. ending/Silent Hills reveal in the teaser below. Cool enough for you?
The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres Sunday, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
