We could see Daryl Dixon fitting in with the cast of A&E’s Duck Dynasty, for sure. But his portrayer on The Walking Dead, actor Norman Reedus? Not so much. However, Norman says he spent time with the Robertsons last Thanksgiving after he received an invite directly from the wealthy, fun-loving family, and they were more “sophisticated” than he expected.
Norman retells his dinner down south in the March 2014 issue of Nylon For Guys, and People magazine snagged a sneak peek of the interview. Noting that he was “surprised” to get the invite, which went out before Phil Robertson's anti-gay remarks, Norman reasons, “But they like our show, and I guess we're both on popular shows, so it makes sense.”
While he was surprised by their sophistication, Norman did admit that the family was still full of quirks. “Those guys are fun to sit down and eat a meal with. A bunch of weird dudes,” he dished.
Man, we would have given anything to be a fly on that wall.
Season 4 of TWD has already finished filming, though the second half of the season kicks off this Sunday, February 9. But perhaps Norman can return the invite and ask the Robertsons to pay a visit to The Walking Dead when production on Season 5 resumes in a few months. Controversial remarks aside, we bet these beloved hillbillies would make great walkers!
