Emily Maynard, you crazy thing, you. We seriously just don’t know what to do with the Season 8 Bachelorette. One moment, she’s telling a hometown station that she’s been seeing a guy from church, the next she’s talking like she’s single as the day is long. But on the October 4 On Air With Ryan Seacrest, she admits she’s certainly not!
“The question on my mind is, after going through The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, the franchise there … Does it increase your stock, like, in reality, cuz you’re single now, aren’t you?” Ryan asked the two-time franchise superstar. Her response?
“I’m not actually…” BAM! There you have it. Even though Emily told The Huffington Post at the end of August that she’s totes lazy about dating and wasn’t having it. “Right now, I am under no pressure to find a guy. I'm figuring it out on my own. But I will say this: When I do find him, this man will be the best, because he'll be someone who adds something pretty spectacular to our lives," she said in an interview. Now it seems she was just tricking us, that little thorn.
Mr. Seacrest gave us a little more info, pressing “You’re not single. But you’re dating someone who wasn’t on The Bachelor, right? Did you notice an increase in your stock afterwards?”
But though Emily was once engaged to both Jef Holm and Brad Womack, she’s not having it where Bachelor Nation fans come from. “I think the guy who thinks that my stock has increased, probably isn’t a guy that I would want to date. I really like the guy I’ve been dating, I’ve known him for a long time. He has never watched the show, he could not care less.”
He doesn’t care that you once went hoodrat on an erstwhile contestant in the name of your family? That you put a man wearing blue suede shoes in his place and made his pompous head spin around? That you were the best Bachelorette ABC has ever had?! How could he not care!? “Yeah, I think he’s kind of embarrassed by it actually,” the blonde bombshell concluded.
Okay, well, even though we disagree with this mystery man — is he the same one from before? — we’re happy that Em seems to be happy. And that this guy certainly doesn’t seem to be hanging around her for the fame. Progress.
