Justin Bieber Allowed to Leave LAX After Four Hours — UPDATE (VIDEO)
UPDATE: E! News has now confirmed that Justin Bieber was cleared and has left LAX after being detained by for four hours by US customs. Justin allegedly smiled at the mob of paparazzi but had no comment about his detainment. Welcome back to the US, Justin.
This just hasn't been Justin Bieber's week — or his year, really. Us Weeklyreports the "Baby" singer is currently detained at LAX and isn't allowed to come back into the United States. His Singapore Air flight landed at 1 p.m. PST, meaning that barring any new information, he's been held up for more than a few hours.
We thought Justin Bieber's potential woes with the U.S. were over after the White House gave a non-response to a "Deport Justin Bieber" petition last week. "Sorry to disappoint, but we won’t be commenting on this one," said an official White House statement. "So we'll leave it to others to comment on Mr. Bieber's case." Now, it's possible that others are speaking up… at customs.
Of course, we're not entirely sure what would keep the Biebs at the border. When we spoke with an immigration expert back in January after Justin was hit with DUI charges, we were told that Justin's Miami crimes shouldn't have any effect on his immigration status. "Driving under the influence, typically, is not a basis to deport someone,” said immigration attorney Harlan York.
Immigration status isn't the only thing that could be keeping Justin at LAX, although that "not allowed in the U.S." bit is pretty worrisome. Whatever the reason, it wouldn't be the first time he's been detained at an airport! Back in November, Justin and crew were detained for a drug search at the Brisbane Airport in Australia, and in January, his private plane was reportedly detained outside of New York after authorities smelled marijuana.
This story is currently developing, so we'll keep you informed on any future updates. For now, we're just hoping that this is all some misunderstanding.
