Kim Kardashian Reveals Why She’s Not Wearing Much Makeup Lately

Kim Kardashian used to be all about her intense, glamourous makeup. The reality star was the queen of the dark, smoky eye and a master at finding the perfect way to highlight her cheekbones.

But recently, Kim seems to be backing off on her glam look, opting instead for more toned-down and natural cosmetics. She still wears makeup, don’t get us wrong. It’s just not nearly as much as we’re used to.

What is the reason for the change? Kim’s had an incredibly busy past few months, what with getting engaged to Kanye West and mothering a six-month-old and all. Maybe she’s just too busy to put on that much makeup? Or too tired. We imagine that the weight of carrying around a 15-carat engagement ring could make a girl pretty tired.

Well, that might be part of it. But Kim has another answer, too, and it has to do with a different recent life change. On January 7, a fan on Mobio INsider asked Kim about her reasoning behind the switch. Her response was this:

“I love to change up hair and make up. I love trying new things. Natural make up is easier too! Looks fresh and goes better with my blonde hair.”

Sounds like Kimmy’s lighter locks are the ultimate motivation for her new approach to cosmetics. Intense eye makeup works well with dark hair, but now that Kim’s sporting lighter locks, it’s not the best fit.

Plus Kim’s super-blonde hair stands out enough as it is. She doesn't need a smoky eye (and a bold lip and long lashes) to compete for all the attention. Balance, people. It’s all about balance.
