Will There Be Another ‘N Sync Reunion? Joey Fatone Says… — Exclusive
If you were a die-hard ‘N Sync fan back in the day, then the 2013 MTV VMA reunion performance was a gift sent from the Boy Band God. Yet, despite the built-up anticipation (it wasn’t really a well-kept secret), fans were ultimately let down when the reunion only lasted about two minutes. The heartache!
But now that everyone had a taste of what it would be like if the former boy band of bleached hair and cornrows were to return, fans are getting antsy for another comeback. But before you get too excited, Wetpaint Entertainment recently caught up with Joey Fatone in New York City to get the inside scoop on whether ‘N Sync will ever have another VMA moment.
“I have absolutely no idea. [It’s] that kind of thing [where] you never know what’s going to happen,” Joey explains. “People say ‘never say never,’ and we did the MTV VMAs [and] it was kind of fun. But you never know, and as of right now, no. Everyone is doing their own thing and kind of having their own fun, getting married, and planning weddings, so we’ll see.”
Did you hear that? We’ll see. There’s hope! But it looks like a comeback isn’t the works for the time being. But there could be a reunion-of-sorts when it comes time to attend Lance Bass’s wedding to longtime boyfriend Michael Turchin.
But as for that infamous two-minute long performance during the VMAs, Joey reveals that not only was it a “funny and very surreal” experience, but it took a minute for the guys to jump back into their old dance moves — especially Joey.
“It was like, ‘Are we really actually doing this?’ But then it comes back in your brain, it kind of just sinks in, and you just kind of remember how it was,” he says.
“Literally when we got together in the studio to do it, and we thought, ‘Oh, we’re just going to sing.’ But then they’re like, ‘Alright, we’re going to start doing choreography,’ and I was like ‘Are you serious? My fat ass shouldn’t be dancing right now — you’re crazy!’ So yeah, I did that, and it was interesting.”
