Kandi Burruss Offers Prayers For Ferguson Protesters and Michael Brown’s Family
In case you hadn’t heard, an unarmed teen named Michael Brown was fatally shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, earlier this month. In addition to inciting protests in Ferguson and nationwide, Michael’s tragic passing has particularly resonated with the Real Housewives of Atlanta’s predominantly African Americancast, most of whom have children around Michael’s age.
Several of the Housewives posted about Michael’s August 9 death just days after he was shot; Phaedra Parks even made a point of meeting with Michael’s grieving family during her recent trip to St. Louis. Speaking about Michael’s mother on Instagram, Phaedra wrote, in part, “We are both black women & mothers who deeply love our sons. Unfortunately, she is planning her son's funeral while I struggle to make sure my sons never know her son’s fate.”
Of the RHOA cast, Kandi Burruss has been relatively quiet about Michael’s death, but on August 14 the reality star made the decision to speak out publicly. Showing her support for protesters, Kandi shared the NAACP’s “I support justice for Michael” photo on Instagram and added her own thoughts about the situation.
“My prayers have been going up for the family of Mike Brown & everyone that has been trying to protest peacefully for everything that’s going on in #Ferguson,” she wrote, hashtagging the post, “#JusticeForMikeBrown.”
