Dan Stevens Lands Role on Once Upon a Time — Good Career Move? (POLL)

It’s no secret Dan Stevens (Matthew Crawley) left Downton Abbey to try his hand at bigger projects. By the time his character died in a bloody car crash on American televisions in February 2013, Dan and his family were well-settled in New York City, where they’d packed up so Daddy could perform on Broadway.

Although Dan’s starring role in the Tony Award-winning play The Heiress eventually came to an end, his work as an actor hasn’t slowed down, especially if you count his off-camera work. Many of the bits Dan’s landed since his Downton days have found him using his sexy voice rather than his sexy face. The latest notch to add to his IMdB belt? ABC hit show Once Upon a Time!

The news broke earlier today with Dan set to appear in a special recap show to catch fans up to speed. Once Upon a Time: Wicked Is Coming will air at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 9. But don’t look for Dan to reprise his role as a knight in shining armor (he plays Sir Lancelot in the forthcoming Night at the Museum 3). Nope, this time he’ll be the man behind the story, as narrator of the special.

So what do you make of the news? Seem like a good move for Dan, or still pondering why he ever left Downton in the first place? Cast your vote in the poll below and then make your voice heard in the comments.

Totally a good move!

I don't want to talk about it.
