Fate as a human man, saved by the broken curse in Storybrooke? Fate as a wooden boy stuck in that form? Or a completely different fate? Maybe we were overly optimistic in thinking the episode would include August/Pinocchio walking, talking or even interacting with the rest of the Fairytale Land gang. Instead, August had a blink-and-you-missed it cameo, just blinking once to show he’s alive, but still stuck in wooden form. For now.
Jane Espenson wrote Episode 2 and on Sunday she invited fans to tweet her questions about the episode. One fan asked, "Where did Pinocchio go? We thought he'd still be on the bed." Jane Espenson responded with the obvious: "looks like he left!"
Well, yeah, but where did he go? Unless he was picked up and carted off (always a possibility), he must’ve walked out on his own legs, wooden or flesh and bone. Do you think he’s stuck in wooden form or will he become human? Since he was never really part of the Storybrooke curse — arriving in our world via the magical cabinet, along with baby Emma (Jennifer Morrison) — maybe he could cross the border and become August in human form, while still retain his old memories? Or would he lose his memories too?
Whatever happens with this character, we hope to see actor Eion Bailey show his fine self soon!
Catch the next new episode of Once Upon a Time on Sunday, October 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT onABC.
