We’re excited at the prospect of exploring Neverland, but we’re not so psyched that we have added yet another storyline setting to the already strained Once Upon a Time narrative. Now that most of the major players are out of Storybrooke, will we be following the town next season?

Yes Storybrooke is the heart of OUAT!

At its heart, OUAT is a show that melds the magical with the ordinary. Part of the inherent draw of the series is the novelty of seeing fairy tale characters in our world. You take that away, you lose something. As far as actual storylines go, we would be interested to see what happens to the town when there is a vacuum in leadership. The people who have led this town since the beginning Regina, Emma, the Charmings, even Rumple are no longer there. We expect at least one episode of everyone freaking out and then someone preferably Belle stepping up to fill the leadership role. She’ll be “Good morning”-ing an orderly town in no time!

No We care more about Emma & Co.!

It’s no secret that OUAT stretched itself a little thin in Season 2. We still loved it, but it sucked to lose track of some of our favorite characters for episodes at a time and to lose track of some minor characters altogether. With the Charming family, Rumple, and Hook all in Neverland, and Nealfire hanging with Aurora, Mulan, and Philip in the Enchanted Forest, we have a lot to follow. We’re not sure if the show will be able to balance the storylines well and, if they can’t, we’d rather than largely abandon Storybrooke in favor of following the more central characters. It’s not that we want to leave Storybrooke forever, but we wouldn’t mind being kept in the dark about what’s going on there. It would be pretty awesome for Charmings & Co. to get back to Storybrooke at the end of Season 3 (or even in mid season) only to find the town completely taken over by The Home Office or completely deserted. Suspense!
