Rejoice, Neal Cassady fans! Michael Raymond-James has been bumped up to a series regular for Once Upon a Time Season 3, reports TVLine.

Suddenly, it seems Neal's fate isn't so uncertain anymore. When he fell through a portal with a bullet wound in his chest in Once Upon a Time's penultimate episode of Season 2, Neal's survival didn't seem likely. However, in the Season 2 finale (Episode 22: “And Straight On ‘Til Morning”), Neal's fate was revealed when Aurora, Mulan, and Prince Phillip him — barely — breathing on the beach. Now, it looks like he'll make a full recovery.

Series co-creator Adam Horowitz revealed the news to TVLine at ABC’s Upfront party in New York City Tuesday evening.

When Wetpaint Entertainment spoke to Michael Raymond-James earlier this month, he told us, "When I had my very first meeting with Adam and Eddy [Kitsis], they told me exactly who I was and exactly where this was all going. So for me, it wasn’t surprising in terms of the overall direction. I knew immediately what I was getting into."

Congrats, Michael! We're glad Neal will be back for more spell-binding drama in Season 3. After all, it looks like Neal and Emma have a lot of unresolved issues to talk about.
