If we hadn't already been sold on the Once Upon a Time spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (which hits the small screen on Thursdays this fall), this first-look trailer might just do the trick. Thrilling, beautiful, and absolutely gripping, this three minutes and 36 seconds is one of our favorite previews of the new pilot season.

The preview shows Alice (Sophie Lowe) facing a table of doctors in a mental institution. She created a fantasy world for herself they tell her, as the trailer cuts to gorgeous (seriously, where was this CGI quality in the back half of OUAT Season 2?) shots of Alice's adventures in Wonderland. She made up a lover for herself they imply, as the trailer shows us beautiful scenes of Alice and a genie named Cyrus (Peter Gadiot). She thinks her lover died, they say as her tears fall. And she can't let go of the "delusion" — so they want to perform a "procedure" to fix her (probably a lobotomy, or something along those lines).

Before she can go through with it, the Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) burst in, tells her Cyrus is still alive, and kicks off a brand new adventure. And we. Can't. Wait. Check it out!

Want to know more? Here's the official synopsis of the show:

In Victorian England, the young and beautiful Alice (Sophie Lowe) tells a tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. An invisible cat, a hookah smoking caterpillar and playing cards that talk are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during this impossible adventure. Surely this troubled girl must be insane and her doctors aim to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything.  Alice seems ready to put it all behind her, especially the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever — the handsome and mysterious Cyrus (Peter Gadiot). But deep down Alice knows this world is real and just in the nick of time, the sardonic Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) and the irrepressible White Rabbit (John Lithgow) arrive to save her from a doomed fate. Together, the trio will take a tumble down the rabbit hole to this Wonderland where nothing is impossible.
