The Once Upon a Time spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, is coming to our TV screens this fall, and after seeing the trailer, we couldn't be more excited. Yes, it has the potential to distract the showrunner from Once Upon a Time, but at this point, it looks worth the risk.

Why? Here are five reasons we can't wait for this new show.

More "women empowerment" shows? Bring it! While we're worried about Wonderland being scheduled in the pre-Grey's Anatomy Hour of Doom, we love what ABC president Paul Lee has to say about the scheduling decision: "What we've done here is we've built a night of women's empowerment... powerful, beautifully-made women empowerment shows." And based on the preview, we're already in love with Sophie Lowe as Alice.

Epic Love. In Season 1, the masterminds behind Once Upon a Time proved with Snow White and Prince Charming that they can create an epic story of True Love that's still interesting and nuanced. It looks like Wonderland will draw on that same strength, with plenty of twists to keep it exciting.

Tighter plot? As far as we've heard, Wonderland is still being convinced of as a 13 episode event series. Given that one of OUAT's weaknesses is a tendency to get bogged down in the middle of the season, we're hoping that Wonderland's shorter run —  and seemingly smaller cast —  will help the writers stay focused, bringing us the best of OUAT's creativity with less of the downside.

Cora might be back! It sounds like this series will stick with the flashback format of OUAT, and the creators hope to bring Cora back, at least for flashbacks. More Barbara Hershey? Yes please!

Michael Socha. While we don't know much about Sophie Lowe (Alice) or Peter Gadiot (Cyrus, Alice's love interest), we are familiar with Michael Socha, a talented British hottie who will be playing the Knave of Hearts. We fell in love with Michael on BBC's Being Human, and we can't wait to see him win America's heart on Wonderland.
