We have a mixed response to the news that Meghan Ory (Ruby/Red) is leaving Once Upon a Time for her new show, CBS crime procedural Intelligence. We're thrilled for Meghan, but we're disappointed that writers couldn't make more room for Ruby on the show. We assume that with Meghan gone, we won't be seeing much of Little Red Riding Hood ... unless they recast her. But could that really happen?

The mere concept sends us into a rage — but never fear, the writers understand that Meghan, and no one else, is Ruby.

When someone asked showrunner Adam Horowitz via Twitter if he was thinking of either killing or recasting Ruby, he replied, "No recast. Meghan IS Ruby."

Whew.

Except ... wait. Adam confirmed they wouldn't recast her, but not that they wouldn't kill her. Ugh.

We really hope there are no current plans to kill the character off. With the core cast away in Neverland, we're guessing we won't be seeing much of Storybrooke anyway, and we'd rather Ruby stay alive — with Meghan potentially coming back for guest spots, since it sounds like there are no hard feelings —  than have her be killed off just because her actress left the show.

Update: Adam later tweeted that, " If we can do it and she wants to come back, [Meghan]'s always welcome. Never said different." OK, sounds like good news to us!
