On Once Upon a Time, the Evil Queen has killed many people, but none of the deaths hurt fans as much as Sheriff Graham/The Huntsman’s untimely demise in Season 1. Though he resurfaced briefly in Season 2, we’ve been missing his scruffy face — both in Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest — and were thrilled when we found out he’d be returning.
However, it isn’t on the show (at least to our knowledge). The Huntsman is returning in a flashback graphic novel, Once Upon a Time: Shadow of the Queen, which will be released on September 4 by Marvel.
In this version of the Huntsman and Evil Queen’s story, we see him team up with Red Riding Hood — a twist on the OUAT plot line. Read on for the official synopsis from Marvel.com:
“The Evil Queen has, quite literally, captured the Huntsman's heart—and now he's her slave. This is the never-before-told tale behind their twisted relationship—and what happens when a good man is forced to do bad.
When Regina cooks up yet another devious plan to capture Snow White—this time by allying with a pack of power-hungry werewolves—the Huntsman comes face-to-face with his past—and an independent spirit in Red Riding Hood that just may match his own. Can these two break free of the forces that bind them and save Snow White? When put to the test, where will the Huntsman's loyalties lie? Has the Evil Queen stolen his heart in more ways than one?”
Additionally, Marvel posted the first three sneak peek images from the graphic novel, including The Huntsman trekking through the snow, his collaboration with an ally, and his heart being ripped out by the queen. We can’t wait to see what else they’re up to in this rendition of the twisted tale!
