Once Upon a Time is known for flipping fairy tale characters’ stories on their heads, but what about pop stars? According to show boss Eddy Kitsis, Kelly Clarkson is high on their list for a guest-starring role.

“We love Kelly Clarkson and she has been our biggest supporter since day one,” Eddy revealed to Rolling Stone. While he admits he was in disbelief at first, everyone is so excited that she loves the show. So much, in fact, that they unofficially invited her to be a part of it. “We will take her! Any time she wants to come to Vancouver, we have got a spot for her.”

On the heels of her cameo in CBS’ The Crazy Ones pilot, the timing has never been better, and if they ever do a musical episode, who is better to headline it? Even better news, though: Kelly’s potential role is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to show casting and returning characters. Eddy also revealed they’ll be doing “a version of the Pied Piper” this season, Aurora and Mulan have a “great arc” in the first half of the season, and Ruby will be coming back!

While Ruby’s portrayer, Meghan Ory, has the CBS show Intelligence premiering midseason, they plan to have her back in the final 11 episodes of Season 3. “She is definitely a part of the show and she will hopefully be back in the latter half of the season,” Eddy said. And the same goes for two other fan favorites...

“In 3 days time I'll be back up in Vancouver pretending with all my #OnceUponATime chums again!” David Anders (Dr. Whale) wrote on October 8. “Episode 309 must need medical attention.” And when a fan asked Lee Arenberg if there’s “any chance Grumpy and his fairy will get a 2nd chance in season 3?” he responded with a picture of him and Amy Acker (Nova) on set. While he didn’t confirm if this was taken recently, we’d like to hope so.

Last, but certainly not least, the great Maleficent will be seen again… just not in Storybrooke or the Enchanted Forest. “Maleficent's presence will be felt again on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” Adam Horowitz said when asked if we’ll see her “out of that dragon state.” We’ll take her any way we can get her!

What do you think of all the returns and potential casting? Sound off below, and catch the next episode of OUAT on Sunday, October 13 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
