The first half of Once Upon a Time Season 3 very effectively turned a classic fairy tale hero into a chilling baddie, but it sounds like the spring half of the season is going to draw from famous villains when creating new foes for our favorites to face. We already knew The Wizard of Oz's Wicked Witch will play a big part in the rest of the season, and now a new spoiler has revealed another fearsome character to expect.

TVLine reports that the show is currently casting Blackbeard, who will appear in one episode. Sounds like swashbuckling good fun to us!

Blackbeard, a.k.a. Edward Teach, is a real-life historical figure, a pirate who operated in the 18th century. The real man has since been turned into legend, and has been used for the inspiration of many a pirate-y tale.

In fact, we don't know for sure if Blackbeard will be a baddie on Once Upon a Time, though TVLine does refer to him as "a cut-throat pirate." Still, Hook could be described the same way, and look how he's turned out! We know the show loves to mess with our expectations, so we'll try not to make any assumptions yet.

Wherever the show goes with Blackbeard, we're excited to meet him. We're also interested to see how he comes into play. Is he part of a Hook flashback? Or does he come from a different world altogether? Inquiring minds want to know!
