The first half of Once Upon a Time Season 3 was completely driven by the Storybrooke heroes in Neverland and them trying to get rid of Peter Pan (Robbie Kay). In the midseason finale, Rumple (Robert Carlyle) finally overcame his demons and took his dad out of the picture with the magic dagger — though that made him vanish as well. Will we ever see Pan again?

TVLine asked series co-creator Eddy Kitsis if we’ll ever see the dastardly dude again, noting that he could always show up in a flashback. “We definitely would like to see him in a flashback, because the character was so much fun to write,” Eddy said. “I’m not sure it will happen this season, but there is a potential.”

Oh, exciting! Given the fact that Eddy only mentioned the potential for a flashback, this leads us to believe that Pan is actually dead for good, which means we’re permanently down one villain. Thank goodness we’re gearing up for the Wicked Witch (Rebecca Mader).

Even Eddy’s OUAT partner Adam Horowitz made his love of Pan’s character (and Robbie’s amazing performance) clear, saying, “We would hate to not be able to use him again.”

There you have it, folks. Don’t expect to see Pan around any this season (we think everyone will have their hands busy with a scary, green lady), but look out for him later on in the show’s run! Lost Boys, forever!

Do you hope Peter Pan comes back on OUAT? Hit the comments and let us know!

Once Upon a Time returns on Sunday, March 9, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
