Tinker Bell is about to trade in her wings for a pretty dysfunctional family life.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rose McIver has been cast to replace Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka in the highly-anticipated sequel to Lifetime’s Flowers in the Attic, titled Petals in the Wind. But why is Kiernan out as Cathy Dollanganger and Rose is in? Read on to find out!

It’s actually a pretty simple explanation, so don’t get too worked up about it. Per the way V.C. Andrews’ books go, the sequel takes place 10 years after the events in the first film, which means Cathy will need to look a tad bit older. Since we can’t magically make Kiernan older (Tink’s been a bit low on magic lately), the network has cast the Once Upon a Time star to get the job done.

Flowers in the Attic was a huge hit for Lifetime, with the premiere bringing in 6.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched original movie for the network since 2012.

Who else is returning and getting replaced? Ellen Burstyn will reprise her role as Olivia, the most religious grandmother of all time, while Heather Graham will return as Corinne, the deadbeat mom. Unfortunately Mason Dye — who played Cathy’s “favorite” brother — won’t return, since they’ll need an older version of him as well. His role has yet to be cast.
