When Once Upon a Time began, our heroine Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) was living in Boston as a lonely bail bondsman and bounty hunter — it was pretty tragic. But when the Season 3 midseason finale aired back in December, Regina (Lana Parrilla) had reversed the Storybrooke curse and had given Emma and Henry (Jared Gilmore) a chance to start over.

The only weird thing? They were living in New York City. What’s up with that?

One concerned fan asked that exact question to E! Online, bringing up the fact that NYC was Neal’s (Michael Raymond-James) most recent home, rather than returning to Boston, her home before Storybrooke.

According to E!, Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) will be raising this issue in the March 9 midseason premiere — Season 3, Episode 12 (“New York City Serenade”) — and that Emma will be ready with an explanation. Perhaps it has something to do with the mystery man that we see her out on a date with in the promo pics for the episode?

Either way, we can’t wait to hear why Emma ended up in the Big Apple — and we can’t wait to see her reunite with her Fairy Tale family.

Were you surprised when Emma ended up in New York City instead of Boston? Why do you think she went there? Hit the comments and speculate!

Once Upon a Time airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
