Once Upon a Time has always dabbled in different genres, and it sounds like we have a mystery to look forward to in the second half of Season 3.

As showrunner Eddy Kitsis explained to TVLine, when we return to OUAT, we can expect a story that "is much more of, in a broad term, a whodunnit mystery. In a lot of ways."

We know that the setup of this half of the season is that all of the characters who went back to Fairytale Land in the Winter Finale have been cursed back to Storybrooke a year later. This time around they remember who they are — but they don't remember what happened in the intervening year. And that means they don't know who cursed them, or why. Thus, the mystery element.

Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison also spoke to TVLine about this half of the season, suggesting that it has a bit of a "horror film" vibe — "supernatural, in a different, adult way."
