With the The Wicked Witch of the West at the heart of the second half of Once Upon a Time Season 3, fans are, of course, wondering what other elements of the Oz mythology we're likely to see this year. We know there will also be a Glinda the Good Witch, but can we expect other iconic things from the Wizard of Oz story — like the ruby slippers that carry Dorothy home?

Well, we know we will be seeing the land of Oz — probably in flashbacks, because it's definitely not a centerpiece of the season — but you shouldn't expect it to look like the Oz you remember from the Wizard of Oz movie.

As executive producer Eddy Kitsis explained to TVLine, if we do see the all important slippers, "they probably won't be ruby." Executive producer Adam Horowitz added that Once Upon a Time will be sticking to the Wizard of Oz books for "legal reasons" which means that if the slippers come into play, they'd be silver — ruby is an invention of the film.

We're actually glad the writers are being forced to stick to the original version of this classic tale for inspiration. The movie is so iconic, it'll be fun to see an entirely different take on the original story.

Are you disappointed we won't be seeing ruby slippers? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
