Captain Swan shippers, unite! In this sneak peek for Season 3, Episode 17 (“The Jolly Roger”) of Once Upon a Time, we see Emma (Jennifer Morrison) confront Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) at Storybrooke’s docks. What begins as playful banter for the two quickly becomes the swashbuckling pirate not letting Emma in on his past year.

After Emma reveals that the big plan to defeat the Wicked Witch is for her to team up with Regina (Lana Parrilla), Hook begins to compliment her on the power she holds inside. But Emma isn’t having it and tells Hook that once everything is sorted out, she and Henry (Jared Gilmore) will be packing up and leaving.

“He doesn’t belong here, not anymore,” Emma says. “He belongs in the real world. In New York. In the life he remembers. It was good, and it didn’t involve vile villains.”

“You can’t just pretend like this never happened,” Hook retorts. “Trust me. I spent the last year trying to do just that. Return to the person I used to be, and it didn’t work.”

When Emma asks him what exactly happened during everyone’s forgotten year, Hook brushes it off, saying, “It matters not. Take it from me, just this once. No matter how much you wish you could go back to your old life, you can’t.”

What do you think happened in Hook’s life the past year? Hit the comments and speculate!
