Frozen's Elsa is coming to Once Upon a Time Season 4, and the show's casting department has a big challenge in front of them. America fell in love with Idina Menzel's version of the character last winter, and whoever plays her in this live-action take has big shoes to fill.

Who's up to the task? While it's possible the show will find a pitch-perfect relatively unknown actress — we'd never heard of Colin O’Donoghue until he showed up as an irresistible Hook — we have some ideas for known stars who might just be able to pull the role off to perfection.

Kristen Bell

The woman formerly known as Veronica Mars brought Elsa's sister, Anna, to life in the movie version of Frozen, but her blonde hair and early 30s age make her a good visual match for the older of the sisters. It would be fun to see Kristen tackle another character from the same universe and, let's be real — we just want to see her on TV, all the time.

Elizabeth Mitchell

Once Upon a Time has a history of attracting actors from the showrunners' last show, Lost, and a lot of fans are calling for Elizabeth Mitchell to play Elsa. She'd definitely allow for a different take on the character from the movie; we'd love to see a more adult Elsa who, perhaps, has more control over her powers. If the show goes in that direction, we can't think of anyone better than Elizabeth.

Claire Holt

On The Vampire Diaries and The Originals Claire Holt proved she has a talent for creating layered, complicated characters who may do villainous things but are ultimately sympathetic. Whether Once Upon a Time takes Elsa dark or keeps her firmly in the "good but misunderstood" category, Claire would be able to handle it with ease.

Dianna Agron

Blonde, beautiful, and able to belt out a tune with the best of them? Look no further than former Glee star Dianna Agron. Like Claire, we know she can do both hard-hearted and sympathetic in the same character, and if there ends up being singing involved, Dianna has a lovely voice.

Portia De Rossi

Another option if the show decides to go a bit older with this character. Portia is the queen of the Ice Queen, but even when playing a dysfunctional Bluth on Arrested Development or the uptight boss on Better Off Ted she's compelling and even likable beneath it all. Plus, like Kristen Bell, we'd just watch her in anything, always.
