Fans already knew Queen Elsa of Arendelle would be coming, since she made her icy presence known in Storybrooke in the Season 3 finale, but TVLine says the ABC show is currently casting three Frozen characters: Elsa, her sister, Princess Anna, and ice chopper Kristoff.
TVLine says Elsa will appear in “approximately nine episodes” of Season 4, with the others getting a bit less time.
The site also shared ABC’s character breakdowns, which share lots of Frozen spoilers, obviously, but also hint to what the producers are looking for when casting the show.
Elsa is described as a “late-20s/early-30s beauty” — apparently they are moving the story ahead a few years from when she had just come of age in the animated film. Elsa realizes the key to controlling her “chilling” powers is the love she shares with her sister, Anna. She’s aware of the threat she poses if she loses control of her magic again (which happens all the time in Storybrooke, so…).
Anna is Elsa’s younger sister and described as a “fun-loving, fearless optimist who often gets herself into situations where she is in over her head, yet is able to triumph due to her resourcefulness and can-do spirit.” (Do you think she and Snow will become BFFs? They have the same positive outlook.)
Handsome, occasionally “gruff” Kristoff has spent most of his life alone. “When we first meet Kristoff on Once, he is adjusting to life at the castle — including sleeping indoors for the first time in his life.” Kristoff has the potential to be a new heartthrob, but we’ll have to see where they go with this. ABC definitely knows how to find charming, lovable actors (who are easy on the eyes), so we’re pretty confident they’ll cast the right stars for all three roles.
Do you have casting suggestions? Maybe they’ll go with unknowns, for at least a couple of the roles. Are you excited to hear about all the Frozen action, or shaking your head at this sudden influx of Arendelle characters?
