Fans of Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) and Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) were treated with a very passionate kiss in the Season 3 finale of Once Upon a Time. Sure, the pair shared a kiss earlier in the season, in the middle of Neverland, but it was nothing compared to the long, steamy kiss in the season-ender. What’s the status of these lovebirds in Season 4?

TVLine took this exact question to co-creator Adam Horowitz himself, who had this to say about Captain Swan in Season 4: “There will be some challenges for them.”

Ugh, say it ain’t so! After facing the likes of Peter Pan and The Wicked Witch in Season 3, we had hoped Emma and Hook would have gotten a little time to enjoy newly-cemented relationship. But, as it goes on OUAT, that won’t be the case. So what will the two be dealing with that causes problems?

“The very first obstacle is Emma’s guilt over the fact that she just destroyed Regina’s relationship [with Robin Hood],” co-creator Eddy Kitsis elaborated about bringing Marian to Storybrooke. “So there’s a part of her that feels guilt in starting a new romance of her own.”

OK, we can totally see where Emma is coming from. Being happy and in love in front of Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla) could make things even more tense between the two of them than it already will be. Perhaps Emma and Hook will keep their relationship a secret or call it off until they can fix Regina’s current lack of a happy ending.

Either way, we need to see Captain Swan make some real progress next year!
