Once Upon a Time is always messing with expectations, so how cool of them to cast a handsome non-white guy as Sir Lancelot (formerly!) of the Round Table (Sinqua Walls). And how not cool of them to pull the rug out from underneath us on Season 2, Episode 3: “Lady of the Lake,” revealing that modern Lance is actually that nasty witch-with-a-b Cora (Barbara Hershey) and she killed the good knight a long time ago.

Unless she didn't?

The action-packed "Lady of the Lake" episode ended with present day Fairytale Land Lancelot really being Regina’s (Lana Parrilla) mom in magical disguise. She told Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) that she killed Lance a while back.

Actor Sinqua Walls live tweeted during Episode 3, and at one point he noted, "But did Lancelot really die???? Hmmmm!" He also added, as part of a later tweet, "Hope everyone enjoyed tonight’s episode stay tuned;)"

Do you think Cora didn't quite kill Lancelot in the past? Right now it looks like Sinqua only has this one episode on his docket, but since Lance is still alive in the Fairytale Land past with Snow and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) trying to take back the kingdom, we should be able to see more of him at another time. And maybe his “death” will turn out to be a fake-out, like the idea of Snow being infertile ... for a few minutes anyway, until Lance and Charming’s mom Ruth managed to save her.

What do you think? Will we see Lancelot again in the future — or the past .. or present day? We’re all going to be as Mad as Jefferson (Sebastian Stan) by the end of these timelines!

Catch the next new episode of Once Upon a Time on Sunday, October 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
