In Season 2, Episode 15: “The Queen is Dead,” we met Neal/Baelfire's (Michael Raymond-James) fiancée, Tamara. We're not sure how much we'll see of her in upcoming episodes, but Neal has become an integral part of the show so she has to pop up again eventually, right? Could Tamara have a fairytale alter ego? Here are four guesses at who she might be...
This season seems to be the season of Peter Pan. We have met Hook, Smee, and now it looks like Neal had a layover in Neverland on his trip from the Enchanted Forest to our world. It is this last connection in particular that makes us think Tamara might have come back with Neal from Neverland. Could she be Wendy, the girl who dreams of pirates and adventure? Or, perhaps, Tinker Bell, Peter's loyal and mischievous companion? Or maybe she is Tiger Lily, the Native American princess Peter rescues from Hook? Given his potential Neverland past, one of this three options makes sense. What wouldn't make sense is Neal's solo status in Portland. If Tamara came back with Neal from Neverland, where was she when Neal was off stealing cars and falling in love with Emma?
Speaking of Native American princesses, one Disney princess who has yet to show her face is Pocahontas. We know that OUAT is willing to introduce historically-based characters now that we've met Mulan (Jamie Chung), so why not Pocahontas? We're not sure how her character could come into play, or why she would be in Manhattan and not in Storybrooke or the Enchanted Forest, but stranger things have happened on OUAT. Maybe she and Neal met in an “I Used To Live in A Magical Land” support group. We wouldn’t be surprised if she works for some environmentally-based non-profit.
We know that outsider Greg Mendell (Ethan Embry) has a friend/girlfriend/accomplice outside of Storybrooke with whom he discusses his suspicions about the town and its inhabitants. When he is in surgery, a “Her” keeps calling on his phone. We have few clues about who this mysterious “Her” is, and have theorized before about who she may be, but we're adding Tamara to that list. Could she and Greg somehow be in league with one another? So few characters on OUAT have nothing to hide. Could there be more to Tamara than meets the eye?
There is, of course, the possibility that Tamara is one of those few OUAT characters with nothing to hide. After everything he's been through, Neal could have just been looking for an “ordinary” life with a nice girlfriend. Who can blame the guy? From what we know of Tamara (which is basically just that she is willing to let Neal borrow her vehicle on short notice), she seems like a perfectly nice woman. Maybe that's all there is to her story?
Who do you think Tamara is? Do you think we will see her again? Let us know in the comments below!
